Focusing on OTC

Antula Healthcare is a young and expansive pharmaceutical company focusing on products approved to be sold without prescription (OTC) today or likely to be approved OTC in the future. We are an independent Swedish company with an industrial and institutional ownership.

We market our brands towards doctors, pharmacies and consumers in Sweden, Finland, Denmark and Norway.

Our business idea is based on the fact that Sweden and the Nordic countries, in an international perspective, have few pharmaceuticals allowed OTC. Sweden has about 44 active ingredients allowed OTC compared to England and Germany who both have more than 100 active ingredients allowed OTC.

Another interesting comparison is how big share OTC has of the total pharmaceutical market. In Sweden the OTC share has been 10 % for a long time. In Norway it is about the same and in Finland and Denmark a bit higher. This can be compared to the rest of Europe where 20-25 % of the market is OTC and compared to USA where 33 % is OTC.

In these countries you have the possibility as a patient to make extensive use of the pharmacies directly for help. In that way you make it easier for the patient and relieve the medical care from taking care of minor diseases. This also saves money for the taxpayers and the society and it also saves the cost for a prescription.

Our business idea is based on the fact that Sweden and the Nordic countries, in an international perspective have few pharmaceuticals allowed OTC. Our ambition is to launch several pharmaceutical products in the years to come, which in our view are lacking in our markets.
